The Avenue Surgery is currently recruiting for a reliable, friendly and skilled medical receptionist to join our small friendly practice We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate, who will be able to work calmly under the pressure. With a teamwork focus you will help us in developing primary care services to the practice population and the Network.
Ideal candidate would have a background in the General Practice. However, skilled candidates, without the NHS experience, will also be considered. Full training will be provided.
ROLE: Part time: 22.5 hours per week 8:00-12:30 Monday- Friday.
Overtime is required - to cover annual leave and sickness.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will be part of a motivated team, working closely with a range of healthcare professionals, making sure we always deliver the best possible care and experience for our patients.
Candidates will need to be comfortable being the first point of contact for patients with a flexible approach to tasks and be proactive in solving problems. They must be able to engage positively with patients and colleagues.
Previous experience of General Practice reception work and systmone computer system preferable.
About us
The Avenue Surgery has a list size of around 5,000 patients. We have a friendly team built up of a GP Partner, Salaried GP, ANP, Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistants, Practice Manager, Office Manager and receptionists. Our opening hours are Monday- Friday 08:00am- 18:30pm. We are based in a LIFT building in Leigh Health Centre. We have access to modern facilitiesand parking to the rear.

The duties and
responsibilities may include any or all of the items in the following list.
This is not an exhausted list and duties may be varied from time to time
dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
- Opening
up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance
with Practice protocols
- Meeting
and greeting patients and assisting them where necessary
- Handling
telephones calls
- Responding
to patient queries and liaising with the wider primary care team.
- Managing
appointment requests and signposting patients to our range of services.
- Maintaining
patient records and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Processing
and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Filing
and coding clinical correspondence
- Processing
repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Initiating
contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member
and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Providing
clerical assistance to Practice staff as required from time to time,
including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Keeping
the reception area tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Assist
clinicians with chaperone duties following chaperone training completion
adhering to the chaperone policy
- Taking
part in all mandatory training, annual appraisal and continued education,
learning and development.
