Job summary

As a Physiotheraptist you will work autonomously to provide specialised assessment and treatment for patients with complex musculoskeletal needs providing a diagnosis and developing and delivering an individualised treatment programme.

Main duties of the job

To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills including manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes, electrotherapy techniques and other alternative options.

Meeting with patients to assess what their physical challenges are and deciding on suitable treatment programmes

Monitoring the progress of patients and adjusting or changing treatments as needed

Liaising with other healthcare professionals, such as Occupational Therapists and General Practitioners and referring patients as needed.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Maintain an up to date awareness of current policies

Participate fully in meetings and in an annual performance review to identify areas of professional development.

Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way, free from hazards

Actively reporting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised

Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holders role

Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)

Reporting potential risks identified

Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
