Job summary
The Middlewood Lead Nurse for
IPC is accountable to the Middlewood Nurse Managers and will provide regular assurance
to the Middlewood Partnership Board on IPC risks and subsequent mitigation.
The post will be part-time,
working flexibly across Monday to Friday. The post holder will link in with the
local CCG IPC group.
Please note: interviews will be held on Tuesday 25 May
Main duties of the job

Chair the monthly Middlewood IPC Operational Group meeting, andmaintain a helicopter view of IPC risks within the organisation.
Maintain the IPC dashboard and support the link IPC team members with monthly IPC audits across the various Middlewood sites.
Maintain a level of competence to allow work within professional limitations and adhere to the professional code of conduct and local policies

Duties and Responsibilities
Professional:
Clinical advice and care on IPC issues
Intensive
surveillance and investigation of infection Prevention and Control
IPC Audit/quality assurance
Education and research
Policy implementation and to assist the Nurse Managers
with policy development/ standard operating procedures
Improvement/service development
Education
and Training:
- Provide professional advice
/support to health care professionals within the Primary health care team
on IPC issues
- Participate in training and supervision
of other members of the nursing team and learners in placements at
Middlewood
- Maintain a level of expertise
in IPC and other pertinent areas of health care, and seek to develop new
and improved skills.
- Responsibility for personal
development and education including in-service mandatory training as
specified by Middlewood.
- Actively participate in
multidisciplinary education and training; attending relevant courses and
study days to keep abreast of current knowledge and developments in IPC
- Abide by the legal
requirements and statutory rules relating to practice and record and
maintain periodic professional registration and revalidation with the NMC.
Quality:
- Alert relevant stakeholders
to issues of IPC quality and risk
- Assess own performance and
take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
- Work effectively with individuals
in other agencies on ICP issues
- Effectively manage own time, workload and
resources
