Job summary

The Middlewood Partnership is a GP Practice and Primary Care Network of 33,500 patients, established in April 2019. We operate from 4 sites across Bollington, Disley and Poynton and we are looking for two enthusiastic individuals who share our values and have the energy and skills contribute to shaping how we deliver care for the future, to join the Middlewood Partnership as Medical Receptionists.

This post is based across both the sites of Bollington Medical Centre and Schoolhouse Surgery, Disley, although flexibility is required to work from any of the 4 sites within the Partnership, according to business need.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the front of house services within the medical centre, assisting GPs and wider clinical and non-clinical teams in providing an excellent service to patients.

We are looking for individuals who have experience of working with the public, in a team, and with colleagues, managers and clinicians. You must also have experience of conflict management and excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills. Telephone/switchboard skills, problem solving and organisational skills are also required. Individuals must have the ability to maintain a positive work environment, attention to detail and an ability to build good relations with key internal and external colleagues, plus excellent time management skills.

Main Purpose

To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice, assisting the GPs in providing an excellent service to patients. To receive patients with courtesy and care, in line with the Partnerships ethos.Service

Maintaining a positive and consistent "can do" attitude, treating everyone with dignity and respect

Dealing with patient requests either face to face, on the telephone or via AskmyGP

Booking, cancelling all types of appointments/consultations

Directing enquiries to the appropriate people and understanding the callers expectations through effective questioning

Chaperoning during clinical consultations, as requested

Receiving samples from patients, according to practice procedure

Handling difficult situations in a calm and professional manner

Dealing appropriately with prescription requests in line with practice protocols

Data & Computer Skills

Effective use of reception computer systems :

MPS phone system receive, transfer, hold calls and change system settings

EMIS Clinical System cancel and edit appointments. Send patient linked messages Touch screen use. Issuing prescriptions. Investigating patient notes. Logging and linking on patient records

Docman opening and responding to messages

Intradoc effective use and knowledge of practice intranet system

AskmyGP respond to and direct patient requests appropriately

AccuRx use for text messaging patients directly

Filing and dealing with patient notes and maintaining accurate records, both electronic and paper records

Teamwork

Prioritise workload according to daily requirements, through consultation with the Reception Manager and other team members.

To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.

Maintaining a pleasant and tidy working environment.

To be punctual

Flexibility is essential to cover for annual leave, absence and all other instances.

The post holder must understand that flexibility is required to work from any of the 4 sites of the Middlewood Partnership dependent on business need.
