The Station Practice is looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the friendly, supportive nursing team at our busy pro-active town centre General Practice.
Full or part-time hours available please specify on your application if you are looking for full or part time hours.
Experience preferred but training could be given. Salary will be dependant upon experience.
Main duties of the job
The role of a Healthcare Assistant includes but not limited to blood pressure management, venepuncture, recording ECGs and health promotion such as smoking cessation.

5. MAIN PURPOSE OF POST: To work in
conjunction with the practice
nurse
and doctors in the provision of
patient
care activities.
MAIN DUTIES
ASSOCIATED WITH CLINICAL CARE:
Measurement of height and weight.
Urinalysis.
Measurement of blood pressure, temperature
and pulse/24 hour BP monitoring.
Peak flow
measurements/nebuliser use.
Recording
of ECGs.
Venepuncture
(with additional training).
Advice
on preparation for ear syringing (oiling)
Swabbing
wounds.
New
patient health checks/over 75s health checks.
Smoking
cessation advice.
Acting
as chaperone.
Assisting with minor operations.
Well Man/Well Woman (no smears)
BMTs/Blood sugar apparatus demonstrations.
Dietary advice.
Liaise with appropriate staff as necessary.
MAJOR DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH ADMINISTRATION:
Follow
infection control standards.
Undertake
computer input data, e.g. vaccinations, blood tests etc.
Maintain set standards of organisation in treatment rooms.
Ensure stocks are kept at adequate levels.
Maintain clinical equipment efficiently and ensure servicing is
undertaken.
Maintain practice information boards, keeping displayed information
current and up to date.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
The Health Care Assistant will be required
to fulfil any training regulations and will be allowed study leave to
facilitate this (up to five working days per year) subject to agreement with
the Practice.
