Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Ash Surgery for a qualified Nursing Associate to join our forward-thinking, friendly and supportive GP practice in the village of Ash, near Canterbury. The practice has just under 5000 patients and the team includes which includes 5 GPs, 1 paramedic practitioner, 1 advanced nurse practitioner trainee, 1 practice nurse and 2 health care assistants with a supportive and experienced admin team.

Main duties of the job

Your primary responsibility in the practice is the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within your scope of practice to our patient population. The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages. This role will assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

We are currently looking for a nurse to join us for 4-5 days per week, hours and salary are negotiable.

Job responsibilities

Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing care to the practice population. Supported by a senior nurse within the practice, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required. In addition, the post-holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the strategic objectives of the practice are met.

Main duties of the job

  • Assisting and performing routine nursing tasks which are related to patient care.
  • The necessary training to allow you to undertake adult and child NHS immunisation programmes and perform cervical screening.
  • Performing competencies in venepuncture, ECG's, Spirometry, wound care management.
  • To support chronic disease management.
  • Provide general health promotion and NHS Health Checks.
  • To be able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) and automated Defibrillator according to current UK guidelines, training and updates will be provided annually.
