Job summary

We are looking for a part-time Patient Co-ordinator to cover maternity leave from October through to July/August. The role will be mainly based in the main reception area and to also carry out some administrative tasks. Previous experience in this type of role is preferred. Salary negotiable.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience within a general practice environment is preferred. Good at communicating face to face and by telephone. Show empathy and patience. Computer skills necessary.

About us

The patient co-ordinators work as a Team and support each other. This is a large practice and it is important that everyone works to a high standard and maintains confidentiality. Using own initiative is important and be willing to cover when someone else is off.

DRS GORAJALA & FLOWERS JOB DESCRIPTION Patient Co-ordinator (Reception/Administration) Part-time fixed term contract covering maternity leave ROLE: To provide reception and administrative support, a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other members of the Primary Care Team. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Reception Duties:- Answering the telephone promptly and conveying messages to members of the primary healthcare team, agencies and other staff members. Producing requests for repeat prescriptions, checking the email system and prescription box for repeat prescription requests. Answering general enquiries, explaining current surgery procedures. Signposting patients to the most appropriate service. Receiving and directing patients on arrival Dealing with the electronic pathlinks and hospital discharge letters. Various other duties as required. Administrative Duties:- To ensure accurate input of data from incoming mail to meet the practice requirements and Quality Contract To ensure accurate clinical coding of data and input onto clinical system Summarising medical records to establish and maintain accurate data Patient recalls to ensure compliance with practice requirements To assist in QOF areas as required Workflow/Scanning of incoming mail on electronic patient records Other duties which may arise daily. Quality The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on won and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs Effectively manage own time, workload and resources Communication The post holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to Communicate effectively with other team members Communicate effectively with patients and carers Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly Contribution to the Implementation of Services The post holder will In conjunction with the Practice Manager develop and implement practice policies, standard and guidance Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work Participate in audit where appropriate.
