Job summary

To be the Group Lead Pharmacist for Lakeside Healthcare (the Organisation), ensuring that the Organisation meets all relevant and necessary licensing, safety, quality and regulatory requirements to provide a continuous, high-quality health and care service to all current and any future patients.

To provide the pharmacy and medicines management leadership to the Organisation, helping guide the development and growth of medicines management services across an increasingly large geographic area, reflecting the changes that primary care faces in the coming years, expanding the nursing delivery footprint of the Organisation and maximising its achievements. Act as Line Manager for Senior PCN Clinical Pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide visible and inspirational medicines management leadership both within the Organisation and in the wider regional NHS, establishing the Organisation as a leader in primary care transformation with focus on the development of medicines management for the Partnership and PCNs.
  • Act as the principal source of medicines management advice, MHRA and other safety alerts to the Organisation and act as a professional lead for all medicines management staff across the Organisation.
  • Provide accountability and responsibility to the Executive Board for organisational medicines management safety and quality.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a credible out-of-hospital plan, including identifying those service lines that are more amenable and more appropriately delivered in community settings, including the identification of professionals (internal and external) who have the capabilities of delivering such services.
  • To lead on the service specification and design of new services from a medicines management perspective. Help shape any regional commissioning policies from a medicines management perspective that shall have an impact on primary care delivery and transformation.

Job responsibilities

Support the CMO in drafting, updating and delivering any agreed clinical governance agenda. Work closely with other primary care providers, community care providers and local 4 authorities to develop a comprehensive integrated care offer.

Ensure that the Organisation makes a significant contribution to health improvement and the reduction of health inequalities across the geographies within which the Organisation operates. Establish a vision for medicines management practice that complies with the highest ethical standards and values.

Champion models of care delivery and medicines management practice, work environments, and staffing standards that are consistent with current research evidence, professional standards, and with the mission, vision, and values of the Organisation.

Regularly inspect all sites on all aspects of medicines management and make recommendations to the Executive Board where necessary.

Foster opportunities throughout the Organisation for staff to develop, enhance, and profile their leadership skills and contributions.

Lead on coordination of Significant Events investigations at sites, and with the CMO and GLN to present recommendations to the Executive Board.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacist
  • Experience of working in pharmacy across primary care
  • Demonstrable participation in major change management / service re-design initiatives.
  • Positive, goals-focused, persevering and flexible personality.
  • Substantial and demonstrable track record of successful, senior Pharmacy leadership in evolving environments.
  • Familiarly with GPhC and RPS processes.
  • A good understanding of healthcare policy and regulation (international experience an advantage).
  • A solid understanding of all CQC requirements as they affect primary care registration.
  • A solid understanding of the working of clinical commissioning groups / NHS England

Desirable
