This role is working in the Mental Health team for Picton Primary Care Network, based in Central Liverpool. The post holder will be supported to deliver psychological interventions to people from different cultural backgrounds and of different ages,
using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal
opportunities.
You will be employed at a band 4
level, work in clinical settings, under the supervision of a qualified
psychological professional and engage in University study 1 day a week, based
at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Some University days will
require attendance, whilst other days will be delivered remotely and study days
may not require attendance at a specific site.
You will be working towards
completing a funded Postgraduate Certificate Associate Practitioner Psychology
(PGCert APP). Upon completion of the clinical role and academic requirements (1
year), you will then qualify as a band 5 Associate Psychological Practitioner
(APP).
The post-holder will be required to conduct
psychological assessments, develop structured formulations and deliver
psychologically informed, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of
an experienced qualified mental health professional. This will include interventions appropriate
to presenting need such as cognitive behavioural techniques, solution-focused
approaches and mindfulness based skills.
Main duties of the job
1. Under the supervision of a qualified psychological professional, the Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioners role will include completing psychological assessments, structured formulations and delivering, or supporting in the delivery of, psychological interventions.
2. The role requires skills in assessing, understanding and supporting formulation, planning, organising, reviewing and delivering recovery-oriented and evidence-based interventions to support the recovery of service users, as agreed with the supervising clinician(s). This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.
3. To forge strong and healthy connections between physical and mental health care within a community setting as part of a holistic approach.
4. The post holder will engage with clinical supervision with a named member of qualified psychology staff to take place on a weekly basis to facilitate their work and ensure safe practice.
5. To engage with relevant CPD associated with the job role in order to feel confident in your day-to-day practice.
About us
Picton Primary Care Network consists of 6 GP practices covering 45000 patients.
Our Network team provides Pharmacy, Physio, Paramedic, Social Prescribing and Mental Health support to our patients.
Our Mental Health team currently consists of two mental health nurses, one advanced practitioner (specialist mental health pharmacist) and one mental health nursing associate.
We are seeking two TAPPs to join this team and help increase the mental health services we provide. The successful candidate would receive supervision from a qualified psychologist as well as mentorship and day to day guidance from one of our senior mental health professionals.
