Job summary

Beacon Health is looking to recruit a full-time medical receptionist to join our friendly team.

We are offering an attractive employment package. Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Providing Medical Reception services to patients, visitors and Practice staff

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

About us

Beacon Health has two GP Practices one in L7 and one in L18 with a patient population of 11,000.

Our team consists of three GP Partners, five Salaried GPs, one Physician Associate, three Practice Nurses, two Health Care Assistants plus the associated management and reception and admin team.

Beacon Health Kensington is a training practice and we have trainee GPs, FY2 doctors and medical students here on placement.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Open up the reception area at the start of the day when first to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients ensuring that the computers and telephones are switched on.

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice

Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.

Book interpreters as required.

Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.

Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.

Receiving and directing patients and visitors on arrival

Enter requests for home visits onto the oncall Doctors screen as a telephone consultation, clearly indicating that it is for a home visit.

Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.

Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

Close the reception area at the end of the day, making sure that the computers and switched off, prescriptions locked away and the reception desk is tidy.

Processing insurances and DWPs, billing and invoicing for the same.

Processing e-referrals

Typing letters and documents

Processing of patient prescriptions in accordance with Practice protocol

New patient registrations, processing Registration Links.

Processing patient deductions

Processing GP2GP
