Main duties of the job

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Dispensing medication accurately and safely in line with agreed protocols
  • Checking all dispensed items against prescriptions, and liaising with prescribers where necessary
  • Monitoring and ordering stock from suppliers, ensuring cost-effective choices are made
  • Receiving and storing deliveries using agreed stock control processes
  • Managing prescription forms, including patient declarations and endorsements
  • Ensuring all medication is delivered or collected within agreed timescales including Dossett boxes and home deliveries
  • Maintaining high levels of professional development and participating in learning opportunities

About us

South Milford Surgery & Bramham Medical Centre are part of the same partnership but the surgeries have separate patient lists and are members of different primary care networks.

Job responsibilities

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Dispensing medication accurately and safely in line with agreed protocols
  • Checking all dispensed items against prescriptions, and liaising with prescribers where necessary
  • Monitoring and ordering stock from suppliers, ensuring cost-effective choices are made
  • Receiving and storing deliveries using agreed stock control processes
  • Managing prescription forms, including patient declarations and endorsements
  • Ensuring all medication is delivered or collected within agreed timescales including Dossett boxes and home deliveries
  • Maintaining high levels of professional development and participating in learning opportunities

  • Previous experience in a dispensing role ideally in a GP dispensary setting
  • A high level of integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism
  • Flexibility to cover holidays and changing business needs
  • A proactive mindset keen to contribute to service improvements and efficiencies
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • A friendly team player who enjoys working in a patient-centred environment

Working Hours & Pay:

  • 3 days (27 hours) per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 8am to 6pm, 1 hour for lunch unpaid (with flexibility to cover other days as needed)
  • Hourly Rate: £12.21 during probation, rising to £12.48 upon successful completion
  • Benefits: Eligibility to join the NHS Pension Scheme, ongoing training, and development opportunities in a supportive environment
