Job summary

Working in primary care can be one of the most rewarding careers for a Practice Manager. Ideally you are someone with an interest in helping provide the best GP service to our patients working with staff who want to be part of an efficient and happy environment. We have very little staff turnover, are very organised and supportive of one another.

We find ourselves needing to replace our manager who is retiring after many years' service, but accept there's a huge learning curve for any incoming manager to take over. With this in mind we are looking to recruit a Practice Manager, who might want to serve initially as a Deputy or Assistant so that guidance, support and mentoring is available. We'll help you achieve management qualification if that's an aspiration and we'll work with you to develop your skills and competence.

Our practice manager role encompasses leadership, finance, HR, health & safety, building management, information governance and other responsibilities associated with our CQC registration and GMS contract.

We hope that you will consider applying for our Practice Manager role, but equally would be very interested in hearing from someone who is keen to be a deputy first. If that's you, then have a look at our job description and make an enquiry. Why not consider visiting us to find out more about us?

Main duties of the job

Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives; develop our team and individuals so that competent and conscientious staff work in a well organised, supportive practice

Oversee the day to day operations of the practice and all aspects of personnel management

Work with the Partners to develop the practice strategically

Ensure the promotion, monitoring, documentation of performance and quality outcome targets within the practice (including QoF/IIF) using IT systems and software to good effect.

Manage our information governance, guide and provide support to develop systems that meet all the Data Protection Toolkit functionality and standards needed so that we are GDPR compliant.

Liaise with professional advisors to the practice and represent the practice and its ethos within the NHS community, which includes PCNs.

Establish CQC standard systems, audits, policies, procedures and initiatives that ensure compliance with health and safety and legal obligations as an employer and registered provider of GMS services.

Manage financial records and processes to include practice accounts, NHS pensions, payroll and banking ensuring up to date and accurate information is available.

Manage the estate and functionality of our building with all of the associated contracts, maintenance and legal obligations required to ensure compliance

Develop and maintain a Patient Participation Group and consider ways in which we can meet the needs of our patient population.
