Job summary

Were looking for Clinicians that are driven to provide compassionate patient care in challenging, fast-paced, but rewarding environments.

The Pharmacy Technician will join our existing pharmacy team proactively helping patients across the PCN to stay safe, well, and out of hospital whilst supporting efforts to reduce the demands placed on general practice.

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Technician you will:

  • Support the role of PCN Clinical Pharmacist/s in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services
  • Perform medicines improvement work to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing under the supervision of the GP or Clinical Pharmacist
  • Assist with medication safety monitoring systems (e.g. high-risk drugs)
  • Liaise with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve medicine-related queries
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care to our patients within our local care homes.
  • Monitor practice prescribing and adherence to practice, local and national prescribing policies.
  • Improve service and quality through mechanisms such as audits

  • QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
  • To either have or be prepared to undertake and complete an approved Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a qualified, registered Pharmacy Technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of prioritising work and meeting deadlines
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally both face to face and on the telephone with people at all levels
  • Demonstrated high standard of written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NHS and the challenges facing Primary Care
  • High attention to detail, able to work accurately and identify errors
  • Able to deal with patients in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Demonstrates understanding of Information Governance, Patient Confidentiality and Data Protection requirements
