Job summary
We are
looking to employ an enthusiastic, pro-active and forward-thinking Practice
Nurse or Nurse Associate on a part time basis, for approximately 24 hours per
week, ideally over 3 days.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a qualified nurse or nurse associate to work within our team, to provide our patients with high quality care and to run clinics such as childhood immunisations, dressings, chronic disease reviews, contraceptive checks, injections, cervical screening, ear irrigation etc. We would be keen for applicants to have prior experience in these areas, but we will also consider training for the right candidate.

are a busy training practice with a large clinical team of GPs, ACPs, Nurses and HCAs with a focus on the development of medical students, trainee doctors,
student nurses, and apprentices. We are a team orientated practice, and the

Job responsibilities
- To assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care as directed and agreed with lead nurses and GPs.
- Identify, manage, and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects on the patients health.
- Help manage patients with chronic diseases by using appropriate assessment and treatment skills, with an underpinning knowledge of relevant pharmacological treatments and lifestyle management.
- To provide holistic assessment of wounds and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines.
- Offer advice about childhood and adult immunisations and ensure vaccines/injections are administrated under patient group directives or individual prescription.
- To undertake the collection of pathological & microbiology specimens including venepuncture, swabs, urine culture in line with local guidelines
- To undertake suture and clip removal.
- Be trained in or prepared to undertake training for cervical screening.
- Support the larger team in dealing with emergencies
- Delegate clinical responsibilities to HCAs, ensuring safe practice and that the delegated task is within the scope of practice of the individual.
- Recognise patients presenting with deteriorating health issues and seek advice as appropriate from duty doctor.
- Maintain accurate clinical EMIS records in conjunction with the existing legislation.
- Participate in quality improvement e.g. audit, development of protocols and new services if required.
- Attend practice/clinical/nurse meetings and contribute to the agenda in the development of the nursing service and where appropriate wider practice systems.
- Participate in clinical supervision, 1:1 meetings and yearly appraisals.
- Support junior members of the nursing team and students, providing guidance when necessary. Supporting and mentoring students.
