PRACTICE NURSE

We are looking to recruit a part-time practice nurse. We have 11,000 patients working from a purpose built building that provides a high standard of care for our patients. We are looking for a motivated and productive nurse to be part of our practice team and provide a high standard of care for our patients. Job Summary

1. To provide nursing services to patients of the practice including treatment, screening and advice within the professional competence of the postholder.

2. To work independently in the surgery in the absence of a GP, possessing the initiative and confidence necessary to do so.

3. To have charge of the treatment room, maintain an adequate level of supplies and be responsible for cleaning and sterilisation of instruments.

4. Because of the socio/economic environment in which the practice operates, to be sympathetic to the various ethnic groups that make up the patient list and possess the appropriately well developed communication skills.

5. Assisting doctors as required.

  • Physical:Ability to carry out the duties of the post without adaptation.
  • Education and Qualifications: RGN.
  • Experience: 2 years post registration experience.
  • Diabetes management, Childhood Immunisations, Asthma management,Travel immunisations is desirable.
  • Experience of EMIS system.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of UKCC Professional Code/Standards
  • Knowledge of clinical governance.
  • Risk assessment: Evidence of recent updating in relevant primary care setting.
  • Skills/Aptitudes: Ability to communicate verbally.
  • Ability to undertake clinical audit.
  • Ability to conduct computer searches.
