Job summary

We are based in Hackney where different cultures and backgrounds happily thrive and embrace each other. We are very close to the historical and administrative heart of Hackney, Mare street.

We are looking for a Salaried GP, for four sessions, to join our amazing and supportive team of 3 partners, 6 salaried GPs, 4 nurses, 1 pharmacist, admin team and patient services. We are a friendly, patient centered, forward thinking practice. we have a highly skilled team of nurses, partner owned building and long term staff retention.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Delivery of highly effective medical care to our patient population.
  • Provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals (we have a secretary who will carry out the administration for the referrals), repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor role
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times.
  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery

About us

We are a medium sized GP practice of 7500 patients. we are based in the heart of a vibrant and diverse patient population. Our doctors, nurses, pharmacist and patient services team all strive to provide a professional, high quality service and excellent care to our patient's.

We have a range of different services being offered to our patients from gynaecology, Social Prescribers, Well Being practitioners to Psychiatry services for young people. We host the community development groups for our patients as well as those within our PCN. These groups get together for regular walks, jewelry making classes, crochet classes, coffee mornings and men's mental health peer support group.

The post holder will be required to work at Elsdale Street Surgery, providing a full range of primary care services. You will be encouraged to support and participate in the development and innovation in clinical areas, whilst providing a high standard of evidence based care.

The post holder will be required to work alongside the Practice team, delivering, developing patient care, relevant to the needs of the patient population, and in accordance with local and national and organisational priorities.

Key areas and responsibilities

To provide the full range of medical services based on patients needs where appropriate.

Critically evaluate and interpret evidence based research findings from diverse sources making informed judgements about their implications for changing and/or developing clinical practice.

Work collaboratively and in partnership with other practitioners

To participate and operate within the clinical governance framework for the organisation at all times, incorporating service users and carers, audit, guidelines and risk management.

To actively participate in the practice, becoming familiar with and abiding by its plans, policies and procedures
