Our busy, diverse and forward thinking practice seeks a new receptionist to join our friendly team.
This position is for up to 31.75 hours per week as follows:
Monday - Friday: 7.45-14.20 (including a 20' unpaid break)
The role requires an excellent telephone and face to face manner, a high standard of written English and the ability to multi- task in a fast paced environment.
The practice offers a wide range of potential admin responsibilities alongside the reception role to develop into and some experience in secretarial work would be ideal.
An additional language would be desirable to support the needs of our population but is not essential.
Previous Medical Receptionist experience is not essential but patience, empathy and a drive to support patients to receive care even in these challenging times is.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that all visitors and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally.
To ensure all telephone calls are managed appropriately.
To manage the flow of patients arriving at the reception desk, for appointments, prescriptions or queries.
Reception duties: Greeting and booking in or patients for surgeries and clinics.
Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.
The receiving and recording of telephone messages taking appropriate action.
Making appointments on System One, by processing appointment requests for today, future appointments from patients in person and on the telephone.
Dealing with all telephone queries/requests from patients, and acting as liaison with the Doctors/Nurses as necessary.
Processing repeat prescriptions.
Receiving specimens from patients ensuring all their details have been recorded whilst following Health & Safety policy.
To have a thorough knowledge of all practice policies and procedures (training to be provided)
To work in accordance of written protocols and provide administrative support for clinical staff.
Opening and distribution or practice post. Outgoing post should be written down in the post book.
Scanning of documents onto the medical system. All scanning should be cleared daily (both trays).
To send letters to patients as necessary.
Photocopying of notes and other information
Our practice is located in Acton, close to Acton Town Underground station with a number of transport links, and serves a diverse population. We are abusy, diverse and forward thinking practice, with a current patient list size of close to 7000 registered patients with a diverse background.

Medical receptionists are professionals who are responsible for coordinating the daily administration of doctors, staff, visitors, and patients at a healthcare facility.
They schedule appointments, answer patient inquiries, handle patient emergencies, monitor stock and supplies at the healthcare facility, receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the most appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and professional manner. This will be by telephone and face to face. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors arriving at the practice
