The role will include the accurate and timely processing of prescription requests for patients, liaising effectively with all relevant personnel. Duties can include but are not limited to, the processing of repeat prescriptions in electronic and hard copy format, including online requests, assisting in audits, searches and maintaining monitoring spreadsheets.

Main duties of the job

Your Main Duties

Process prescription requests via various channels, including phone, email, and online access systems, following practice protocols.

Generate prescriptions for GP approval within acceptable timeframes, ensuring all requests are ready for collection within 72 hours.

Facilitate medication reviews and liaise effectively with external services, such as district nurses, to ensure housebound patients receive necessary medications.

Maintain accurate patient records, promptly address prescription-related inquiries, and report adverse effects as necessary.

Collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team to meet the strategic objectives of the practice, ensuring seamless coordination of patient care.

Job summary:

The role will include the accurate and timely processing of prescription requests for patients, liaising effectively with all relevant personnel. Duties can include but are not limited to, the processing of repeat prescriptions in electronic and hard copy format, including online requests, assisting in audits, searches and maintaining monitoring spreadsheets.

In addition, the post-holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the strategic objectives of the practice are met.

Main Duties:

Duties will include co-ordinating and preparing repeat prescriptions for our Patients, data entry onto patient records, EPS and Patient and Pharmacy liaison. The tasks and responsibilities to be undertaken may include any or all the items in the following lists, dependent on current and evolving practice workload.

Work with our GPs to provide a responsive repeat prescription service delegated to the Prescription team as appropriate.

Delivering the technical aspects of prescription preparation to ensure the safe prescribing of medicines.

Delivering an efficient prescription service and ensuring service targets are met and errors are minimised.

Run analysis reports and gather information from a variety of sources for continuous improvement, safe management of repeat prescriptions, and to co-ordinate medication reviews or changes.

Liaise with pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert our clinicians of any supply issues and forward information on the recommended alternatives.

Expedite urgent prescriptions to help ensure a safe and responsive service for our Patients.

Respond to enquiries from patients, carers, secretaries, NHS administrators, Consultants or the Medicines Management Team in a courteous, timely and efficient manner.

Provide an efficient administration service as part of a Team to ensure the smooth running of the prescription support to our clinicians.

Ensure you are keeping Patient information updated and that Patient information is secure and always kept confidential.

Maintain accurate Patient records promptly and quickly - entering data in accordance with reporting requirements.

maintain and update drug monitoring spreadsheets as needed on a regular basis.

Pro-actively contact Patients to arrange reviews and book these in when required. Reviewing the patient record and ensuring the patient only needs to come in once where possible.

Supporting QoF work that needs to be undertaken.

Bring any queries to the attention of the pharmacist(s)

as necessary to resolve queries.

Build good working relationships with local Pharmacies.

Create tasks and assist Clinicians in managing document workflow relating to prescriptions.

Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computerised information is easily accessible and secure.

Undertake training as requested to support safe and effective services for the Practice.

Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Pharmacist or Business Manager
