Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team at The Prince of Wales Surgery working in both our Dorchester & Portesham sites.
The practice is currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse, ideally with primary care experience to join our friendly and professional team on a part time basis 20 - 25 hours per week.
We are looking for someone who will share our commitment to providing excellent healthcare to our patients.

Main duties of the job
Job description
Provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients
Job Responsibilities:
- Cytology
- Wound and ulcer care including removal of sutures and staples
- Day to day management of chronic diseases clinics such as Diabetes including maintaining disease registers, management of condition, referrals to other members of the primary care team, audit outcomes of care against standards and initiate changes as necessary
- Routine immunisations and vaccinations schedule
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs, bloods
- Contraception advice including Depo and pill checks
- Administration of injections including b12
- Infection control monitoring
- Day to day use of recall systems/processes
- Venepuncture

We have a well established, supportive and friendly Nursing Team comprising of 5 Practice Nurses and 3 Healthcare Assistants here and 1 Phlebotomist.
