Job summary
Whitstable Medical Practice is looking for a qualified Nursing Associate to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).
Applicants will be considered from those looking for full or part time employment.
The responsibilities
of the role will be very much dependent on the experience of the successful
candidate and the rate of pay will be based on
experience.
Main duties of the job
To work as a team member under
supervision of the Urgent Treatment Clinicians to provide and maintain an optimum
level of care for our patients.

There are 24 equity partners looking after over 44,500 patients. We pride ourselves on our innovative approach to Primary Care. We are a training practice and run various in house contracts including Cataract surgery, Ultrasound, Dermatology, Physical Therapies and Audiology together with further community contracts, a Day Surgery Suite and an Urgent Treatment Centre with digital x-ray.

Job responsibilities
- Provide basic and higher levels of nursing care as needed for patients.
- Dealing with patients as they present or as emergencies, assessing patients individual needs and treatment or
referring as appropriate.
- Accurately recording all results on the computer
and ensuring familiarity and understanding of the requirements of the UTC department.
- Work alongside the clinicians in the provision
of patient care.
- Undertake and record a range of tasks, which may
include: Measurement of height and weight, Urinalysis, Measurement of blood pressure, temperature and
pulse.
- Being aware of UTC protocols and
taking part in their regular updating.
- Peak flow measurements
- Recording of ECGs / 24 hour BPs / 24 hour
ECGs/ 7 day ECGs
- Phlebotomy
- Liaising with nurse colleagues and doctors where
necessary

Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum Grade C GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths. Registered Nurse Associate with current NMC registration.
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Excellent assessment skills. Good decision making, communication and organisational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels. Good IT skills to enable accurate recording of consultations. Committed to ongoing development. Adaptable and flexible to work additional hours including extended access hours. Ability to work under pressure. A team player. Enthusiasm and energy.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as a Nursing Associate or experience within a Healthcare/ health environment. Phlebotomy Trained. Competency in basic Nurse Associate duties.
Desirable
- Wound Care Trained. Knowledge of EMIS.
