As the Referral Lead, you will play a central role in managing the patient referral process across a variety of clinical services. This includes processing routine, urgent, ERS, community, and two-week-wait referrals, supporting patients as they move through the healthcare system. Youll be part of a collaborative team environment, where efficiency, precision, and patient support are at the heart of everything we do.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process routine and urgent referrals accurately and promptly
  • Manage referrals via the NHS e-Referral Service (ERS) and community pathways
  • Coordinate imaging referrals including X-Rays and Ultrasound Scans (USS)
  • Complete and submit 2WW (Two-Week Wait) proformas in line with national guidance
  • Maintain and monitor referral-related worklists to ensure timely follow-up
  • Monitor and action advice and guidance responses, ensuring fast turnaround
  • Audit all outbound referrals for quality and timeliness
  • Prepare and report weekly referral progress data to the Operations Manager or Management Team
  • Manage the dedicated referral email inbox, ensuring timely responses
  • Allocate referral worklists to team members, supporting effective task distribution
  • Process administrative queries submitted via online consultation systems
  • Handle incoming calls from patients and professionals regarding referral queries
  • Manage and action EMIS workflow tasks relating to referrals
