Job summary

To provide nursing support to Nurses, Nurse Associate andGeneral Practitioners to ensure the efficient and effective provision of the full range of nursing services to the patients of the Practice. Chaperone, prepare treatment rooms and treatment room equipment. Work in accordance to national and local guidelines and standards. Keep up to date in practice by engaging with training offered in house or by other agencies.

Perform procedures i.e. venepuncture, blood pressure, height, weight, calculate BMI, injections, ECG, spirometry, blood sugar levels and foot checks. HCAs must also hold a clean full driving licence and access to a car in order to undertake home visits.

Assist in the administration of child health information.

The collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal. The ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use. Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms. All procedures to be performed in keeping with infection control guidelines. Perform infection control audits.

Liaise with other members of the surgery team and other agencies providing clinical care and support to patients within the local area.

Main duties of the job

The checking and recording of medical supplies on delivery.

To monitor the loan of medical equipment to patients i.e. blood pressure monitors

Use of the Practice Clinical System for patient searches for clinics and patient recall. Adhere to Information Governance Regulations.

Maintain equipment in good condition ensuring standard procedures such as calibration is completed.

Ensure adequate stock levels in treatment rooms, fridges and cupboards.

Provide and help to manage a caring, empathic and professional treatment service to the patients and practice team.
