Job summary
This is an exciting
opportunity to join the Central Vale Cluster as a part of the reception team
working in General Practice. The role will be 0 hour to provide flexible cover
as a key part of the reception team with potential for a set contract depending
on the future needs of the practices and the hub.
The ideal candidate
will have experience of working in a busy reception environment, preferably
within General Practice, and will be able to work a varied number of hours per
week.
The Central Vale Cluster
is a forward-thinking collaboration of GP practices in Barry, South Wales, led
by the partners and management of 7 GP practices. The reception teams vary
across sites.
Joining the cluster
at this time will give you a chance to be involved at an exciting and changing
time for General Practice. The candidate will work in a busy, vibrant practice
team and will work in the interest of all patients registered with the practices.

About us
Highlight Park
Medical Practice is a forward-thinking GP practice in Barry, South Wales, led
by 4 partners; 3 GPs and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. The reception team
consists of 10 team members and is led by the reception manager.
This is an opportunity to experience working in different practices and different settings to provide patients with a high quality service and to support the working of the Central Vale cluster.

Operating
the telephone system
Receive and make calls as
required. Divert calls and take messages
as appropriate
Ensure that system is operational at
the beginning of each day at 8am and ensure over to night service at the end of
each day at 6.30pm

Care
Navigation
Understand the options of services
for patients to access and be able to offer these options, which will not
always be an appointment at the practice
3.
Appointment
System
Make appointments and record data
with accuracy
Oversee the alterations or
cancellations of booked surgeries or appointments
Assist external agencies, Health
Visitors/Midwives with clinics that are held at the practice

Prescription
Queries
Prepare, print and distribute prescriptions and prescription
queries as stated in the prescription protocol
Log prescriptions collected by
patients and pharmacies
Work with pharmacy colleagues to
ensure prescriptions are dealt with efficiently
5. Test
Results
Give test results to patients as per
practice protocol
Record telephoned/faxed results in
patient record and give to doctor for action
6. General
Advise and assist patients upon the
new registration procedure
Photocopy as required
Take general enquiries or instructions
from patients i.e district nurse bookings and telephone/fax to appropriate
department
Keep waiting room and work area tidy
and free from hazards
Have knowledge of Health and Safety
requirements, follow as per protocol and ensure updates are read and understood
