Job summary

Prospect Medical Group have an exciting opportunity for a 6 session salaried GP to join a friendly, enthusiastic, forward thinking GP practice.

In accordance with the practice timetable the successful applicant will be available to undertake a variety of duties including face to face, telephone and e-consultations, home visits, medicine management and associated paperwork. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

The Practice also offers a number of specialist clinics and enhanced services, allowing clinicians to develop and use additional skills.

This post is offered as a 12 month fixed-term contract, with a view to extension or becoming permanent subject to performance and organisational requirements.

Main duties of the job

As part of your role, you will participate in the triage rota, making clinical decisions and prioritizing appointment requests via eConsult.

Outside of triage duties, you will manage your own clinics, providing care for acute, complex, and long-term conditions. You will be responsible for delivering a safe and efficient patient journey, including all associated administrative tasks such as referrals, reviewing test results, and completing documentation.

You will also be expected to take part in the Home visits and care home rounds as required. You will be mentored and supported by the Partners and wider Multi-disciplinary team, which included Management, Admin, Nurses, HCAs Social Prescribers, Pharmacists.

About us

Prospect Medical Group is a long established, friendly and forward-thinking GP practice in the west end of Newcastle Upon Tyne based in modern single site premises. We have 6 GP partners who employ 2 salaried GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse associate 3 Healthcare Assistants as well as a team of dedicated and supportive administrative staff. We currently have a patient list size of around 15,000. We are highly involved in our PCN (Inner West Newcastle) and through this we benefit from pharmacists,physiotherapists, psychology, paramedics, a nurse associate, mental health workers and social prescribers who work also work for the practice.

We have regular medical students from Newcastle University and are working toward becoming a Training Practice.

Our collective purpose is to provide the best care to our patients.

We use SystmOne clinical system.
