Job summary
We are currently looking for a friendly, forward thinking person to join the team at Wingerworth Medical Centre. The job entails all aspects of administration work, from answering the telephone to scanning documents / coding to providing face to face communications with our patients with external and internal training given.
You are often the first contact for our patients, therefore your role is vitally important. We strive to provide excellent care for every patient using reflective practice to promote this. Patient safety is at the forefront of our minds in everything we do.

Wingerworth Medical Centre is in the heart of Wingerworth, providing medical services to surrounding areas.
We are a forward thinking practice, with teams of GP's, Pharmacists, a Paramedic, Nursing team and admin staff. We are a training practice with two GP trainers.

Practice Administration
- Ensure familiarity with all aspects of the appointment system.
- Book appointments over the telephone and face-to-face using Systm1 computerised system, ensuring the agreed practice procedures regarding appointment systems, booking times are adhered to and explained to patients accordingly.
- Offer general assistance to the practice team, patients and visitors to the practice either in person or on the telephone.
- Attaching of documents to patients records, adhering to deadlines.
- Accurate read coding of documents, adhering to QOF protocols external / internal training will be given.
- Action requests for ambulance transportation and record accurately.
- To provide holiday cover for colleagues as required.
- Ensure communication to and from patients, other members of the primary care team and external agencies are processed accurately and within the necessary timescales.
- Home visits: records requests appropriately.
- Open and sort post daily.
- Ensure Reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
- Ensure the telephone system is operational at the beginning of each day.
- Open up the premises and make all the necessary preparation to receive patients at the start of the day.
- Secure and alarm the premises at the end of each day no lone working buddy system in place.
- To fully participate in QUEST sessions (monthly)
- Take on additional duties and relinquish existing ones in order to maintain efficient running and development of the practice.
