Job summary

Wingerworth Medical Centre has the opportunity for a clinical coder / medical records summariser to join our team of administrators.

The role involves screening all incoming medical letters, entering key data onto the computer system and selecting and directing particular information for GPs attention adhering to the practice coding policy. This role also involves scanning and summarising patient notes. Duties are not exhaustive and may change as the needs of the practice change.

We are seeking someone with experience of work-flowing and coding in a medical context, ideally within a GP practice setting. The practice uses SystmOne clinical system.

This is a fast-paced busy role where multi-tasking and strong organisational skills are essential. Personal resilience and the ability to thrive under pressure are also essential qualities for success in this role.

You will be required to work one late evening until 19.00hrs.

Main duties of the job

You will have a broad knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of common medical diagnoses and procedures.

Triaging incoming clinical correspondence to determine whether GP input is required.

Be responsible for the scanning and input of accurate data using the appropriate codes within set timescales.

Add QOF recalls / liaise with the Practice Team Leader.

Be able to adhere to practice protocol to manage the workflow of correspondence.

Excellent IT skills

Knowledge of SystmOne would be a distinct advantage.

Willingness to learn and be taught, available to attend monthly Quest meetings, training and courses as appropiate.
