Medicines Management Administrator

Job summary

Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting role within our medicines management team. Our prescriptions process is evolving and in your role as a Medicines Management Team Administrator you will provide a high level of administrative support across the organisation to our clinical teams and our patients.

This is a 20 hour per week post working across 3-4 days (days will include Mondays & Fridays). Hours of work to be agreed on a rota basis to ensure team cover between practice hours of 8am-6.30pm (rota hours to be discussed with the successful applicant) The role is based at our main site in Brampton however, working at our Corby Hill or Wetheral sites may also be required.

Main duties of the job

To process, all repeat medication requests sent in by patients using the various protocols in place.

To print off repeat medication requests from the surgery website at least twice daily.

To collect repeat prescription requests from NHS Mail, paper requests left in post box, online requests and voicemails.

To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests.

To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with practice protocols and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.

To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP.

To manage the practice Repeat Prescription process for Dispensing and non-Dispensing patients.

Ensure patient medication record screens are up to date with the correct information available.

Set up Repeat dispensing and Automatic prescriptions to ensure efficient Work-flow.

Ensure patient prescription requests are sent to the correct destination for Non-dispensing patients via the electronic prescriptions service.

Track incoming documents from other healthcare professionals eg Discharge sheets and ensure medication is updated on patient screen and issued where appropriate.

To communicate factual information to patients about medication.

Ensure a complete audit trail for all prescriptions issued and destinations for dispensing.

Arrange appointments when requested by GPs as part of a repeat request to enable medication reviews to be completed.
