MSK Practitioner (First Contact Physiotherapist)

We are open to negotiating working hours up to full time.

The role is Practice based, within a PCN. You will be the first point of contact for patients with undiagnosed MSK disorders and will need highly developed differential diagnostic skills to ensure patients are managed safely, efficiently, and effectively. You will direct the care pathway for your patients autonomously, including assessment and diagnostics, provision of diagnosis, appropriate self-care advice or onward referral as indicated. You should understand indications for, and limitations of, relevant MSK investigations, and will be confident in explaining their use and implications to patients.

This role is designed to establish MSK expertise in Primary Care and, as such, you will work closely in the practice to build excellent working relationships. You will bring expert MSK knowledge and will be a resource to the wider team. You will work closely with the Practice to provide support and training within the team. You will need to have clear evidence of team working and will be expected to support the team in effective service delivery, audit and improvement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to work at an advanced clinical practice level as an autonomous MSK practitioner. A part of this will be managing and leading the FCP service within the primary care team, with access to support from leaders within the senior primary care team.

The post holder will be expected to have good relationships with local clinical specialists within the field of primary care and advanced MSK practice, to ensure maintenance of strong advanced clinical practice skills, clinical governance and clinical support. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate outcomes and achievement of key results for the FCP contract.

To be the first point of contact for expert clinical assessment and diagnosis of patients presenting with MSK conditions in primary care/GP practices. This will include patients who present with a range of multiple needs and underlying pathologies/other primary conditions. Use of advanced assessment tools and application of expert treatment modalities/techniques will be required.
