Job summary

Millview Medical Centre is a two site surgery based in the rural village of Heckington and the market town of Sleaford. The practice continues to expand and improve services and is now looking to recruit an additional receptionist to join the friendly team. The candidate will work 30 hours across both sites with a varying shift pattern between the hours of 07.30 and 18.30. They should be flexible to cover sickness and holidays and have a 'can do' attitude.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the reception team, the candidate will play a vital role representing the surgery. Using a wide range of customer service and admin skills, they will welcome patients into the practice and coordinate the daily administration of appointments and enquiries, delegating to other members of the team as needed. The candidate should have confidence communicating face to face, over the phone and via email as well as using a variety of IT systems.

To meet and greet patients, members of the public and visitors to the practice in a friendly and courteous manner.

To direct patients to the appropriate professionals or services through signposting

Make/cancel appointments for patients, clinical staff and other members of the health care team on the clinical system.

Deal with patients enquiries in relation to results, and book appointments when required

Deal with any specimens delivered by patients and ensure they are stored appropriately and collected by the hospital and other services.

Understand the use of the practice email system

Work with patients to complete feedback of service to include Friends and Family survey.

Keeping the reception area clean and tidy

To provide administrative support and services to all members of the practice team.

Recognises patients rights and responsibilities

Participates in company, meetings, in training and other activities

Patient care

Ensures that the quality of patient care is in accordance with the established policies and procedures

Assists the practice managers and clinicians in identifying and solving patient-care problems

  • A good standard of education.
  • Experience of working with other people in a customer role
  • Able to work under pressure in a sometimes stressful environment
  • Clean driving licence

Desirable

  • GCSE maths and English grades A- C
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Previous experience in SystmOne and askmyGP
