After a successful round of recruitment, the PCN is looking to recruit a third pharmacist who is highly organised and self-motivated to join a pharmacy team to provide support to practices in South East Oxford.

We are looking for a dynamic and pro-active pharmacist to deliver and develop medicines optimisation services, improve patient outcomes and support the primary care workforce in general practice across a primary care network.

The PCN are a forward-thinking network who have invested in fully understanding the role of the PCN pharmacist and the support required for the pharmacist to hit the ground running. They have a clear vision and strategy on how to grow and develop the pharmacy team and how best to support pharmacists transitioning from other pharmacy sectors to primary care.

The successful pharmacist will be supported by a senior pharmacist already in post working across the PCN, a clinical pharmacist and pharmacy technician. If required you will be enrolled onto the CPPE pathway training programme for primary care.

The role

You will support four practices in South East Oxford, we work in an innovative hub model, the day to day clinical pharmacy tasks for all four practices are pooled and dealt with as a pharmacy team, from our base at Hollow Way Medical Centre. For clinics however, you would be based across two practices from:

Donnington Medical Partnership

Hollow Way Medical Centre

Temple Cowley Health Centre

The Leys Health Centre

Your time will be split between a patient facing role and a clinical leadership role which supports the network with medicines optimisation and quality improvement and contributing to QOF and enhanced services in the network.

You will also focus on the operational efficiencies that can be created within the network to ensure there is better use of skill mix to improve access to healthcare and help manage workload.

Previous experience is desirable but your desire to learn and develop, to grow in to this role and take on the leadership and accountability of delivering the service for the PCN is equally important.

Salary will be up to £38,000 - £48,000, depending on prior qualifications and experience.

This is a full-time role of 37.5hrs a week. A job share or reduced hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Essential for the role:

• Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) (or equivalent)
• Qualified for a minimum of three years
• Registration with the GPhC
• Hold a current driving licence.

Desirable for the role:

• Have an independent prescribing qualification
• Previous experience in primary care

• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
• In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare.
• An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving

• Excellent IT skills, across multiple systems.
• Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors or GPs when appropriate
• Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Produce timely and informative reports
• Gain acceptance for recommendations and influence/motivate/ persuade the audience to comply with the recommendations/ agreed course of action where there may be significant
