Job summary

Are you an experienced clinical coder looking for a change of scenery or coder looking for a new challenge. If so we'd love to hear from you.

We are looking for a clinical coder to join our small team, working at least 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will have excellent attention to deal, be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Ideally with a knowledge of SystemOne, and medical terminology.

Main duties of the job

To scan hospital letters results etc into the patients record using the clinical system, SystmOne.

To critically examine the clinical information required from hospital letters assigning the relevant national Snowmed codes in accordance with the practice guidelines.

  • To extract diagnoses, operations, results, reviews etc from hospital letters and EDD summaries etc.
  • To classify diagnoses, operations etc and to accurately input onto S1
  • To add recalls if applicable.
  • To prioritise and code any outstanding uncoded diseases/operations/episodes admissions etc as identified by you, your team or the clinical staff or management.
  • To liaise with the line manager, clinical staff and doctors to address any queries arising during the coding process.
  • To work as part of a small clinical coding team ensuring daily hospital letters are dealt with accurately and in a timely manner to maintain continuity of care to the patient.
  • To highlight and annotate letters as part of the coding process if applicable.

We are a busy eight partner lead practice, looking after 18,000 plus patients in the Skegness area, with a sister site at Burgh Le Marsh. We are a small team, who work closely together to form the Hawthorn Family.
