Job summary

We are currently looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our small and friendly team.

Hours - x 2 posts at 16 hours per week or 1 x post at 32 hours per week.

Successful candidates will need to have experience in working in GP Reception and be a team player with the ability to multi-task.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and provision of general support to the Practice.

Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with local external agencies and community service providers.

Parkgate Medical Centre has around 6500 patients. Our branch surgery is located in Thorogate, Rotherham.

Our staff are friendly, hard-working and together we provide a high level of care to the local community. We are a well organised and well-led Practice and we are part of Wentworth 1 PCN.

Job responsibilities

  1. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.
  2. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.
  3. Answer incoming calls, transferring calls or dealing with callers requests appropriately.
  4. Signpost/care navigate patients to the correct service.
  5. Dealing with daily tasks/emails.
  6. New registrations.
  7. Input data into the patients health records as appropriate and necessary.
  8. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
  9. Flexibility - be able to cover for colleagues when on annual leave/sickness leave.
  10. Work across both sites.
  11. Maintain a clean, tidy and effective working area at all times.
  12. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
  13. Support all staff with general tasks as requested.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of education equivalent to GCSE A-C.
  • Motivated to help people.
  • Experience of working within a GP Practice.
  • Enthusiastic, caring and empathetic.
  • Competent IT skills.
