Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic
and motivated receptionist/admin staffs to join Star lane Medical Centre. You
will have excellent communication and IT skills, and keen to work as part of a
growing admin team!
Hours required, Mon to Fri -
between 8 am to 1pm or 1pm to 6:30 pm
£9 to £10 per hr.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality,
professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, staff,
colleagues, health service professionals and others.
To act as the first point of
contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the
highest possible professional basis.
To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously
handled.

- Greet patients and visitors
to the practice.
- Book, amend and cancel
patient appointment as appropriate.
- Ensure that patients with
urgent request/queries are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
- Receive and accurately
record requests for home visits, assessing urgency in accordance with the
Practices protocols.
- Respond and/or redirect all
patient and visitor requests accordingly.
- Explain practice
arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary
residents, ensure procedures are completed.
- To register new patients on
emis system.
- Advise patients of relevant
charges for non NHS service, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
- Produce repeat prescriptions
according to practice procedures and ensure timely distribution of
completed prescriptions.
- Ensure correspondence,
reports, results etc. are filed electronically in correct patient record.
- Ensure reception and waiting
areas are kept neat and tidy
- Re-stocking of information
leaflets as appropriate
- Answering incoming telephone
calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.
- Undertake administration
tasks as allocated on rota organised by Senior Receptionist.
- Action start and end of day
procedures ensure phone messaging service for out of hours information is
directed appropriately switched to out of hours service at close of
business each day.
- Ensure up-to-date
maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient
notes).
- Check emails on a daily
basis. Also regularly check fax machine for incoming messages. Send faxes
as required.
- Regularly check task
allocated via emis and other, and action accordingly.
- Amalgamation of new patient
records.
