Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and hard-working General Practice Nurse to join our clinical team.
You will work alongside our GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Specialist Practitioners, and administrative staff to deliver the highest quality of care to our local population.
Whilst experience working in a General Practice setting is essential, the most important quality we look for in candidates is a willingness to get involved in our team and be a leader by delivering innovation through the care we provide.

Main duties of the job
Your main duties will be general nursing duties, such as wound care, long-term condition reviews, cervical screening, immunisations, blood tests, and health screening.
In addition to this, you will be supported to develop an area of leadership, which may be through infection prevention and control (IPC) compliance or improving uptake of cancer screening and immunisations.
EMIS software experience is desirable, but full training will be provided.

JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE
REPORTS TO: PRACTICE MANAGER & LEAD GP
HOURS: NEGOTIABLE
Job Summary:
The purpose of the role is to:
· Provide and maintain a high standard of care for patients
· Provide nursing assistance and clinical support to the other members of the Practice team
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the Practice Nurse will include preventative care, chronic disease management, routine screening programmes, immunisations, wound care, learning disability and mental health reviews, as well as patient education.
Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager and Lead GP, dependant on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels.
The Practice Nurse will be supported to develop an area of leadership, which may be through Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) compliance or leading on improving uptake of immunisation and screening programmes.
· Offer high quality Practice Nursing skills, and perform appropriate Nursing consultations
· Ensure precise and concise documentation using the Practice’s electronic patient record system (EMIS Web)
· Make every contact count through patient consultations to ensure good clinical outcomes
· Work within the principles of the Practice’s PMS contract with NHS England, the Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF), and the Primary Care Network Direct Enhanced Service and Impact & Investment Fund (IIF)
· Undertake cervical screening, swab sampling, and long-term condition reviews
· Perform routine, catch-up, and travel immunisations
· Carry out health screening as required
· Perform general treatment room duties, such as wound management and contraceptive reviews
· Recognise and manage acute medical emergencies, such as anaphylaxis, in accordance with current guidelines
· Work in accordance with current clinical guidelines and Practice policies
· Participate in research projects
· Management of the Practice’s vaccination stocks, including ordering and auditing
· Assist with monitoring of the Practice’s emergency equipment and medication

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Adult nursing degree.
- Hold a current, valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Desirable
- Qualified in Phlebotomy.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within a General Practice setting.
Desirable
- Experience of performing long-term condition reviews.
