Job summary
Croft Hall Medical Practice is a forward
thinking friendly Practice in Torquay with 8200 patients.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Healthcare Assistant who can deliver a broad range of primary care services including Phlebotomy, Administration of B12, Flu Vaccinations, Health Checks, Wound Care/removal of sutures supporting the GPs and nursing
team.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the
practice nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines
and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team
in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

area and our practice is involved with all local initiatives. We are a single
urban site, beside the sea, serving 8200 patients and an active part of the
Torquay PCN.
We
have an ever growing multi-disciplinary team which includes experienced ANPs,
alongside our PCN staff including Pharmacists, Wellbeing Team and Physician
Associates. We focus on the wellbeing of our staff and have strong
communication across all teams.
Job description
Job responsibilities
-
Undertake
new patient health checks
-
Support
the practice nursing team with heal promotion programmes
-
Carry out
baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and
pulse rate, and record finding accurately
-
Facilitate
routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
-
Undertake
wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
-
Support the
practice nursing team with the management of chronic disease clinics
-
Carry out
BMI checks as directed
-
Act as a
chaperone when required
-
Undertake
venepuncture once trained
-
Administer
flu vaccinations once trained
-
Carry out
ECGs as requested
-
Ensure
specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
-
Provide
support during minor operations as required
-
Ensure all
clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
-
Ensure fridges
are routinely cleaned in accordance with current guidance
-
Ensure clinical
waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with
practice IPC policy

Deliver
opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
In addition to the
core responsibilities, the HCA may be requested to;
1.
Partake in
audit as directed by the audit lead
2.
Participate
in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
3.
Support
and participate in shared learning throughout the organisation
4.
Undertake
any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role,
ensuring work is delivered in a timely and effective manner
5.
Complete
opening and closing procedures in accordance with the rota
