An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paramedic to work within General Practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a paramedic, who acts within their professional boundaries, supporting and working alongside our team of clinicians in the Practice, to provide excellent care to our patients.
About us
We are fun, happy and open 2 site GP practice with a combined population of around 7500 patients, based in Central Oldham and Lees in Oldham. We are fortunate to work in 2 purpose built buildings with fantastic facilities.
The Practice is a partnership with 2 GP Partners, ANPs, ACPs, Physiotherapist, Healthcare Assistants, Physician Associate and a fantastic, supportive administrative team.
With this team we are able to offer a wide range of services to our patients.

Job responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients needs either in the Practice or patient homes;
- Support and continue the development of an on the day emergency patient service in the Practice;
- Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
- Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
- Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
- Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner;
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary; healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another

- Be a registered nurse or Paramedic with HCPC, with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience, ideally with at least 1 year being in Primary Care (or equivalent);
- Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;
Experience

- Have experience of working to protocols / guidelines and patient groups / patient specific directives;
- To exhibit excellent communication skills when dealing with clients. Non verbal and verbal skills required;
- Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
- To work within the parameters within skills and knowledge, to recognise the limitations of practice and to work within the boundaries of training and capability, according to the NMC Code of Conduct / Health and Care Professions Council
- Autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working; able to demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.
