Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic leader who has strong financial management skills and a desire to be involved in future estate development plans. Ideally you will already have 2 years healthcare experience (gained within the NHS) and be looking to lead a large GP Practice.

To excel in this post you must have excellent organisational and strategic skills, plus in-depth knowledge of all aspects of management including estates and facilities, staff management, HR, Finance and most importantly be an outstanding communicator. You will have strong IT skills, be confident in Excel, Word, Systmone and comfortable with accounting systems.

We expect our future leader to be able to forge strong relationships with other organisations such as our fellow PCN Practices and CCG.

Main duties of the job

Strategic management and planning: Prepare and annually update the practice development plan, and oversee the implementation of these aims and objectives. Assess and evaluate accommodation requirements and manage estates redevelopment/expansion plans.

Financial management: Ensure the Practice operates in a profitable and cost-effective manner in keeping with the financial aspirations of the Partners, with timely reporting to the Partners/budget holders. Liaise with the practice accountants. Maximize income streams, be responsible for the bank accounts, negotiate/liaise with the practice Bankers, manage and monitor PAYE for practice staff and maintain appropriate records.

Operational & Personnel management: Lead the practice team, ensuring the business is run in a safe, efficient, effective and CQC compliant manner. Line manager the administrative management team.

You will be a key member of the Melksham & Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network board, ensuring that the strategic direction is in line with that of Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership.

We are a responsive, innovative and ambitious GP training practice, who pride ourselves on delivering safe and timely care, enabling patients to optimise their health and well-being. We offer our staff the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies by providing in-house (and external - where appropriate) training and mentorship, in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We operate across 3 GP sites, two in Bradford on Avon and one in the nearby village of Winsley.

We serve a population of 20,300 patients, covering both Bradford on Avon and Melksham. The current Practice team (135 staff) consists of 7 GP partners, GP Associates, Retained GPs, as well as a multi-disciplined team consisting of Clinical Pharmacists, Mental Health Care Practitioner, Paramedics, Emergency Nurses, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Phlebotomist as well as non-clinical staff which includes our Social Prescribers. Our Winsley branch surgery is also a dispensing practice.
