Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a new Practice Nurse to join our team.

The successful applicant would be expected to provide nursing services to the practice population with evidence based, quality focused care. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. To ensure clear channels of communication exist between clinical, administrative and community teams. To project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals.

Successful candidates would be expected to work across both sites.

Full time or part time hours can be negotiated for the right candidate, but may include extended hours. This is an exciting opportunity to join a practice team dedicated to providing excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

Requirements include but not limited to:

Teamwork -Expected to display a high standard of teamwork.

Principal Responsibilities -To provide assessment, treatment, screening and health education services and advice, working in accordance with set protocols.

Professional Responsibilities -To be qualified and a member of the NMC. Maintain continued education by attendance at courses necessary for personal/professional development. To have the ability to work on own initiative. Recognising when referral to other health professionals is needed. The ability to carry out wound management, blood pressure, injections, smears, child and adult immunisations. Sexual health, chronic disease management. To be conversant with QOF, read coding and audits.

Administrative responsibilities- Maintain accurate records of all consultations and treatments both written and computerised.

In addition -Attend meetings as appropriate, including PCN, Academic half days, primary care meetings and other nursing requirements associated with being part of a PCN. Have due regard for health and safety, along with confidentiality.

About us

The practice is managed by 4 GP Partners and the Practice Manager.

Additional team members are a further 3 GPs, 3 Physicians Associates and 4 members of the nursing team. There are approximately 18 administrative and reception team members. We also actively collaborate with Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group and 2 other practices as a Primary Care Network team.

The practice values each other and the skills individuals contribute to the practice both in terms of daily work schedule and the delivering of patient care.

We take part in practice based research. We are also a training practice for medical students and trainee nurses and we offer excellent support and training, the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge in a friendly learning environment, and an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working in a well-established and growing practice.

  • Nursing Degree minimum 12 months post and registered with NMC
  • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills in Post-registration studies allied to general practice
  • Understanding of computer based medical records management
  • Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions
  • Worked in General Practice environment Minor illness, minor injury, family planning and immunisations
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and NHS especially Primary Care.
  • Understanding of computer based medical records
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent verbal communication & interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of computer literacy
  • Ability to work with staff of all levels in a positive, helpful and constructive manner.
  • Ability to cope with change
  • Health Promotion Strategy knowledge
