Pharmacy Technician / Dispenser

Job summary

The postholder will be working directly with our clinical pharmacist, but also as part of the wider team, working together to help patients, support the doctors and extended multidisciplinary team. You would be based at our main site but would be expected to work at our branch surgery if needed. Training and support will be provided by the wider team, including the practice pharmacist.

Pay is negotiable depending on experience and we offer a generous NHS pension scheme. You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week over five days, hours and timings can be flexible. Applications from community pharmacy are welcome.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be working in an office-based job and the main roles and responsibilities will be as follows:

Review patient letters which include changes to drug treatment and make changes to patients repeat medication list as appropriate

Reconcile patients medication following hospital discharge

Liaise with patients and community pharmacies/hospital if required to ensure patients receive their medication post discharge

Action drug safety Eclipse alerts on weekly basis

Undertake simple audits in areas such as self-care in accordance to agreed CCG protocols

Assist in answering medicine related queries from GPs, nurses and other practice staff in a professional manner referring to the pharmacist if needed

Carry out housekeeping tasks on patients records such as synchronisation of medication and high risk drug monitoring searches
