Job responsibilities
Strategic Management
Keep abreast of current affairs and identify
potential threats and opportunities.
Contribute to the practices strategy and develop
ideas for future practice development.
Monitor and evaluate performance of the full practice
team against objectives.
Communication within the practice and with
relevant outside stakeholders.
Contribute to the practice development plans and
oversee the implementation of the aims and objectives.
Oversee QOF, map the progress throughout the year and
the monthly recalls.
Awareness of Local Commissioned Services and
locally commissions schemes.
Participate in Primary Care Network objectives and
achievement of targets.
Human Resources
Provide a general personnel management.
Oversee the recruitment and retention of
staff.
Monitor skill-mix and deployment of
staff.
Organise and oversee induction and
training of all staff and trainees.
Staff appraisal and monitoring systems.
Keep abreast of changes in employment
legislation.
Maintain up-to-date HR documentation
(including job descriptions, employment contracts and employment policies).
Monitor, organise and record all staff training.
Finance
Recording all income and expenditure due to or made by the
practice is received and recorded in the accounts.
Managing and reconciling all bank accounts including petty cash.
Processing payments.
Organisational
Work with the Partners to ensure CQC compliance.
Arrange meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution of minutes as
necessary.
Develop Practice protocols and procedures, review
and update as required.
Develop and review Health & Safety policies
and procedures and keep abreast of current legislation.
Ensure that the practice has adequate disaster
recovery procedures in place. Review,
assess and update Business Continuity Plans
on a regular basis.
Collate significant event reports and use as
training opportunity.
Undertake periodic reviews of all complaints and
significant events at the relevant meetings.
Undertake and arrange audits as required.
Submission of annual complaints audit.
IT
Keep aware of the latest development in primary
care IT demands.
Ensure that the practice has effective IT data
security and disaster recovery plans in place.
Information Governance
Review Practice policies and protocols, updating where necessary.
Ensure Staff members are trained and compliant with practice and Data
Protection legislation.
Ensure compliance with GDPR.
Ensure Privacy Policy compliance.
Ensure any data breaches are reported in accordance with GDPR / DSP
Toolkit /ICO recommendations.
Maintain and update Records and Retention policy and log.
Submission of annual Data Security Protection
Toolkit.
Premises and Equipment
Responsibility for security, repairs, insurance
and maintenance of premises, services and equipment. Liaise with Business Manager.
Ensuring that the practice complies with aspects
of Health & Safety at Work (HASAW) legislation.
Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of
health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
Ensure that Practice premises are properly
maintained and compliant with regulations.
Manage the procurement of practice equipment,
supplies and services.
Arrange appropriate maintenance for practice
equipment.
Patient Services
Adopt a strategic approach to the development and
management of patient services.
Ensure service development and delivery is in
accordance with local and national guidelines.
Ensure that the practice complies with NHS
contractual obligations in relation to patient care.
Routinely monitor and assess patient access and
demand.
Maintain, develop and implement an effective
complaints management system.
Liaise with patient groups/PALS.
Ensuring
good engagement and representation with the practices Patient Participation
Group.
