Job summary

The Engagement and Communications Officer will provide support to ensure the efficient and effective running of the communications and marketing functions to support Sutton PCNs. The postholder will develop, promote, ensure, and maintain systems for effective staff, patient, and stakeholders communication within and across Sutton.

The role will include carrying out general operation support tasks, including daily media monitoring, preparing, and scheduling social media posts, implementing website updates, assisting with the planning and execution of events, and writing copy for a range of audiences and channels. The post holder is expected to use their initiative to make considered judgements and ensure they can prioritise tasks effectively.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working hours flexible (For example could be 8am-4pm, 8:30am-4:30pm, 9am-5pm or 9:30am-5:30pm)

About us

Sutton Primary Care Networks CIC is the collaborative vehicle for the four Sutton PCNs and the former Sutton GP Federation working together as a single entity. We are a Community Interest Company that aims to reinvest surpluses back into general practice and primary care for the benefit of our practices and the people who form the communities we serve.

Sutton has four PCNs whose boundaries are based on historical relationships and groupings of organisations. There are some similarities of residents health and care needs unique to a particular PCN, and many more needs that are shared across all 4 PCNs.

Our four PCNs represent all 22 GP surgeries around Sutton. Their collective footprints covers all the London Borough of Sutton and its residents who are able to access and benefit from the services and improvements offered by Primary Care Networks.

Communication and Engagement

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
  • General administration tasks, such as sending emails, phone calls, writing up documents, filing.
  • Support the production of printed publications, employing graphic design skills to create accessible and engaging content.
  • Seeking and drafting content in plain language, ensuring materials are accessible and facilitating the distribution process.
  • Work alongside other members of the team to develop and deliver effective communication and engagement to all staff, patients, third sector organisations and stakeholders.
  • Create, write, update, and optimise content for the SPCN and associated stakeholders websites, digital newsletters, print publications and social media platforms which is in line with branding and accessibility guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency in terms of voice, branding, messaging, and frequency of posting via communication platforms.
  • Employ creative skills to create content that is engaging and appropriate to our diverse audiences.
  • To assist in other ad hoc projects as directed by the Engagement and Communications Lead.
  • Draft, proof, and share communications to various channels.
  • Advise internal colleagues on the most appropriate methods of communicating messages to staff.
  • To support with logistics arrangement of team engagement events and campaigns
  • To help facilitate and support events in meetings of stakeholders and public members.
  • Actively participate in the videography/photography projects in a variety of roles depending on the project, including but not limited to:

o Adobe Creative Cloud Apps including but not limited to video production and graphic design. (or equivalent)

o Social media platforms including paid ads functions.

  • Support with production of reports based on data collected and make improvements where necessary based on findings.

Planning and Organising

  • Prepare appropriate social media content, including a social media content calendar.
  • Support the collation of e-bulletins, coordinating, drafting and editing content, ensuring accurate copy, consistent format and timely distribution, continuously measuring its effectiveness and advising on improvements.
  • Support and deliver communications activity for key internal projects, events and initiatives as required.
  • Planning details of and supporting events.
  • Minute taking in meetings.
  • Prepare videography/photography equipment and others comms resources/equipment as required, ensuring all equipment remains in a good state of use and ready to be used.
