Job summary
Chesser surgery is seeking for a committed Finance Business Manager to join the Practice team at Carshalton. The post holder will be responsible for all the finances of the Surgery, including performance against budget and cash flow and ensuring that systems are in place to monitor income and reach targets. Previous management experience in a GP Practice or Community Health services is essential.
The Finance Business Manager is a key member of the senior management team reporting to and supported by the Managing Partners. Under delegation from those Partners the postholder will take prime responsibility for the financial affairs of the Chesser surgery and for the Practices role in administering the finances of Sutton PCNs.
The role is 15-22.5 hours per week; however, the candidate will be required to work those hours necessary for the proper performance of their duties.
Main duties of the job
The Finance Business Manager is a key member of the senior management team reporting to and supported by the Managing Partners. Under delegation from those Partners the postholder will take prime responsibility for the financial affairs of the Chesser surgery and for the Practices role in administering the finances of Sutton PCNs.
In liaison with the Practices accountants, the postholder will ensure that the partnership and senior management of the team are provided with prompt and accurate financial information including end of year accounts for the Practice, its limited company, and the primary care network of which it is a part. The post-holder will be responsible for producing and maintaining up to date management accounts for the Practice and to monitor performance against financial targets set within the Practice strategy. The postholder will also oversee Practice procurement, estates/facilities, IT/telephony, and overall business development.

Chesser surgery is part of Sutton Primary Care Networks which consist of 22 GP Practices within Sutton Borough. There are currently 4 Primary Care Networks (PCNs); Carshalton, Cheam & South Sutton, Central Sutton, and Wallington PCN; each serving a population of approximately 50,000 patients. PCNs form a key building block of the NHS long-term plan. Bringing general practices together to work at scale has been a policy priority for some years for a range of reasons, including improving the ability of practices to recruit and retain staff; to manage financial and estates pressures; to provide a wider range of services to patients and to integrate with the wider health and care system more easily. Chesser surgery is a clinically forward-looking, friendly, and focused on providing a wide range of healthcare services to patients in Carshalton and the surrounding area. Our surgery is led by 3 GP Partners, supported by other GPs, nurses, Pharmacists, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Mental health practitioners, Social prescribers, Physiotherapists, Healthcare assistants and Administrative staff.
