The Project Manager Freedom to Speak Up is an essential and specialist role within South West London Training Hub with responsibility for developing the FTSU agenda and leading the implementation of subsequent plans to ensure that our staff are supported in speaking up, that any barriers to this are addressed, a positive culture of speaking up is enabled and fostered and that issues raised feed into learning and improvement across primary care.

The post-holder will be responsible for leading the delivery of a FTSU programme in SWL primary care. This includes facilitating development of an initial implementation plan that will support the Training Hub in creating and embedding a speaking up culture, a nurturing culture with continuous learning and improvement opportunities for staff in primary care. The post holder is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the steering group and project managing the delivery plan.

Main duties of the job

Poject Manager: Freedom to Speak Up will lead on:Engagement with Primary Care stakeholders including GP Federations, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), GP Practices and individual staffDevelopment of a robust Primary Care Speak Up strategyDevelopment of best-practice Key Performance Indicators to support measure outcomeIncreasing and improving awareness around positive Speak Up cultureCreate and embed Speak Up in SWL induction programmeSharing learning with National, London and local teamsSupport the enrolment of FTSU Guardians onto Appropriate TrainingCreate a peer support forum for FTSU Guardians across SWL

Training Hubs are a WTE (HEE) model designed to meet the educational needs of multi-disciplinary health and social care team bringing together NHS organisations, community providers and local authorities.

South West London Training Hub CIC is a not-for-profit organisation, set up to hold the WTE (HEE) and any other contracts and workingacross South West London. SWL Training Hubs include Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth. Whilst each Training Hub retains its independence, a key theme is working togetherand 'doing things once'as appropriate.Place based Training Hubs will sometimes lead on a specific project across SWL on behalf of SWL Training Hub CIC.

Job responsibilities

South West London Training Hub envisage the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Project Manager role will enable the Training Hub to move towards establishing system wide structures in collaboration with Primary Care and system partners.

This initial work will aim to enable further development focusing on Primary Care, ensuring that:

our workforce is supported in speaking up

our workforce are supported in addressing barriers to speaking up

a positive speak up culture is nurtured and opportunities for continuous learning and improvement are maximised

The Project Manager will operate independently whilst working in partnership with Primary Care and System Partners including PCNs, Practices, Federations, individuals and other groups including senior leadership teams.

The Project Manager will contribute to the national Freedom to Speak Up Guardian network, NHS England and local networks.

Outcomes:

Engagement with Primary Care Stakeholders to understand the current structures (capability, knowledge, and skills) to support others to speak up. These engagement would include individual staff forums that are available across the region for the different roles in primary care

Understand if speaking up policies and processes are in place, if there are gaps, proposing recommendations including best practice KPIs to support ongoing feedback and evaluation mechanisms

Increase understanding of positive speak up culture, providing learning events

Understand challenges and barriers to establishing speak up systems in Primary Care

Develop a robust strategy to implement Speak Up Guardians in Primary Care ensuring consistency across the system with buy in from system partners

Support and share information and practice with National, London and local system partners

Competencies
