Job summary

We are looking for an experienced practice nurse to work in our busy general practice. Hours and days of working are flexible, however we do offer Extended Hours and you will be expected to work one Saturday every month currently.

We are approximately 9200 patients and work across two sites in Warrington, Cheshire. We currently have 2 other practice nurses (although will be retiring) and we have one Health Care Assistant as well as 2 GP Partners, 2 salaried Doctors and 2 GP Trainees.

We offer all chronic disease monitoring and work to a high level of QOF Achievement.

We are part of Central and Weat Warrington PCN and have attached roles such as Paramedic, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, MSK Practitioners and Care Co-ordinators who all work together to support and give our patients the best possible care.

Main duties of the job

About us

We are approximately 9200 patients working across 2 sites in Warrington, Cheshire.

We are a training practice and currently have 2 Trainee GPs working with us.

We have 2 GP Partners (1 fulltime / 1 part time), 2 Salaried Doctors (1 full time / 1 part time).

We currently employ 2 Practice Nurses (1 will be retiring) and we also have a Health Care Assistant.

We work as a team, have monthly clinical meetings within the practice, CCG wide Nurse Forum Meetings and also Protected Learning time once a month.  This enables support from within the practice but also the wider nursing and primary care teams.

We are part of Central and Weat Warrington PCN, which is very innovative and well established.  The PCN have attached roles such as Paramedic, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, MSK Practitioners and Care Co-ordinators who all work together to support and give our patients the best possible care.

Cytology

New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis

Health Checks / Health Promotion

Travel Clinic

ECGs

Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Feno (although training will be given)

Chronic disease management including diabetes, respiratory disease, cvd

Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations

Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician

Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil / implant fittings

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Family planning including Pill Checks

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior clinicians or GPs as appropriate

Other tasks will include:

Clean and sterilise equipment

Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the clinicians

Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required

Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms

Ordering of Health Promotion Literature

Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels

Participation in administrative systems in the Practice

At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

A duty to advise senior clinicians of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks

Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
