Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and flexible Receptionist to join our busy 5 partner Practice for 20-25 hours a week.

Our practice requires highly organised and motivated individuals to provide comprehensive front of house and administrative services to support the Practice.

Applicants should have excellent customer service, organisational and computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience of the EMIS Web computer system would be an advantage, although full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The ability to work well within our team and on your own initiative is essential.

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice

Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.

Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.

Provide care navigation to the most appropriate services for patients.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.

Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

Chaperoning patients and visitors when necessary.

About us

St Georges Medical Centre is a busy Practice with a population size of 9500 patients.

We have a large clinical team of 5 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Health care assistants and 1 phlebotomist. We are also a training Practice and currently have 5 GP trainees at the Practice, as well as medical students.

St Georges runs a dedicated community Ophthalmology clinic on site and hosts a number of community services, such as diabetes, podiatry, orthotics and minor surgery.
