Job summary

Salaried GP vacancy 4-6 sessions (over 3 days Monday/Wednesday/Thursday)

We are an active part of the WEB Primary Care Network (PCN) and this collaborative approach is supported by a PCN support team; with a lead manager, D&T lead, Mental health and wellbeing team, clinical pharmacist team, acute visiting paramedic and a first contact physio team; all working across the member practices.

We are heavily involved in research as a level 2 Practice and are always keen to welcome new GPs to the team that may want to develop postgraduate skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be offered a bespoke package to meet their working needs and future aspirations; partnership (associate or property sharing) opportunities are available in the future where desired. About us

We are a close-knit team of 3 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, plus 1 GP retainer, who are supported by a GP Assistant, and Trainee GPA. We also have an experienced nursing team consisting of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse lead/Nurse prescriber, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, 1 phlebotomist and a Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA). We also have a fantastic management team consisting of our Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, and 2 team leaders who are superbly supported by an administrative care navigation team. We are heavily involved with the local medical school and have a teaching ethos, with all GPs being trained to assess medical students, and 2 GP Partners as GP Trainers. We host GP registrars, medical students, student nursing associates and nursing students and we encourage continued professional development across the team. We offer a wide range of services (Inc. minor surgery, joint injections, contraception clinics and menopause clinics); the surgery promotes a patient centred approach to healthcare.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

m. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
