Job summary

We are looking for a committed and motivated individual to join our Quality, Coding and Recall Team.

The Coding and Recall Administrator provides administrative support to the clinical team by reviewing and coding clinical documents, assisting with the management of the patient recall system, helping the practice to maintain high standards of data quality and providing administrative support to the wider team as required.

You must have a structured approach to work and be aware of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail. You will have completed necessary training on information governance including data security, GDPR, and confidentiality. It is essential that you have excellent IT skills in addition to good written and verbal communication skills. A working knowledge of the EMIS Web practice software and clinical coding would be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who can be flexible, adaptable, and be able to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. An understanding of the importance of effective admin services within this fast changing primary care environment is essential as you will be expected to work under pressure and have the ability to prioritize and manage your own workload.

Previous experience working in General Practice or an NHS environment is essential.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide essential support to GPs managing clinical documents, coding appropriately and processing.

2. Use of EMIS software to review and sort electronic letters.

3. The direct computer inputting of patient information and data onto medical records (e.g. entering diagnosis, values and relevant details from patient hospital letters)

4. Review of hospital discharge letters and forwarding to pharmacy team for prompt change of medications where necessary.

5. Laboratory results administration.

6. Manage monthly patient lists and recall invitations.

7. Take part in Immunisation campaigns including Shingles, Catch-ups (MMR), Pneumococcal, Flu and Covid

8. Assist with clinical and non-clinical audits if required.

9. Distribution of generic emails as appropriate.

10. Work with the team to action electronic patient tasks.

11. Maintain ongoing training and development as expected to enhance your skills.

12. Work safely at all times in accordance with Health and Safety Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.

13. Awareness of legislation and compliance regarding patient confidentiality and information governance.

14. You are expected to maintain a professional approach to your job at all times, to be able to work independently and as part of the team.
