Job summary

The opportunity has arisen for a new candidate to join our friendly and hardworking team at this busy medical practice.

The ideal candidate will be a good team player with excellent organisational and communication skills. They must be able to work under pressure in a busy environment whilst maintain a mature, polite and responsible manner.

It would be desirable, but not essential, for the candidate to have experience of working for a Pharmacy or within a surgery prescribing team prior to this application.

Main duties of the job

Within your role you will:

be required to present a professional and caring attitude and provide a high standard of service to meet the needs of our patients.

demonstrate a hardworking and motivated attitude and the ability to work well both as an individual and as part of your team ensuring all practice policies and procedures are followed.

Process repeat prescription requests and deal with medication queries.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

JOB TITLE: Prescribing/Admin Clerk

REPORTS TO: Prescribing Supervisor and Practice Manager

HOURS:

Job Summary:

Process repeat prescription requests and deal with medication queries.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Job Responsibilities:

Prescribing

  • Process repeat prescription requests.
  • Answer the telephone in prescribing.
  • Deal with prescribing queries.
  • Deal with online requests.
  • My health online set-up new requests and maintain.
  • Tasks.
  • Docman letters.
  • Zoladex register.
  • Readcoding.
  • Liaise with nursing/residential homes.
  • Liaise with local chemists.
  • Deal with low level patient concerns.
  • Near Patient Testing.
  • Order new prescriptions pads and paper from stores.
  • Undertake training as necessary.

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
  • To work in accordance of written protocols / SOP’s.

Appointments

  • Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Dealwith home visit requests.

Reception

  • Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team.
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
  • Be able tocover reception position as necessary.

Computer

  • Changing patient details–computer data entry and medical records.
  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
  • Process e-mail requests in a timely manner.

Telephone

  • Have working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.

Other Tasks

  • Ensure building security – have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers
