Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated
Medical Secretary to join our friendly practice team.
The ideal candidate would have experience of using EMIS WEB,
good sound knowledge of medical terminology, and have worked as a Medical
Secretary within the NHS.
You must be accurate, have good communication skills, be a
team player, and also be able to work flexibly in the absence of colleagues.
Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient copy typing and word processing
service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing
of letters, reports, patient referrals and notifications in an accurate and
timely manner.
Working along side lead the existing secretary and will be managed by the senior administrator.
About us
We are a medium sized practice with just over 7,500
patients.
The practice has;
3 GP partners, 2 Practice nurses and 1 Phlebotomist.
10 admin staff.
We also have staff proved by the PCN who are fulfilling the
ARRS roles.
We like to see ourselves as a small family, we try to
support each other through our daily working life and would like welcome a new
member.

- To make appointments and bookings as required using the E-Referral Service wherever possible.
- To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- To maintain the computer system in an accurate and secure manner.
- To consult the internal communication portal on a daily basis.
- To check and ensure all two week wait referrals have been received by hospitals.
- To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
- To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave (secretarial or other parts of the service)
- To handle incoming and outgoing emails.
