Millbrook
Medical Centre is a busy Practice based in Knowsley over two sites within Kirkby.
We
are looking for a Receptionist to join our busy, friendly,
hardworking and forward-thinking team to cover maternity leave. This is a part time
role for 18 hours per week.
The
ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Receptionist within General Practice, have excellent customer service and communication skills
and be able to work both as part of a team and alone.
Purpose
of the role:
To
assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service/healthcare
professional in a courteous and efficient way.
To
offer assistance to the team and project a positive image to visitors, either
in person/online/phone.
To provide general
administrative support to the Practice Manager, Doctors and Health Professionals,
involving word processing with general clerical work over two sites.

Receive, assist
and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare
professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team
and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors,
either in person or via the telephone.
To provide general secretarial support to the practice
manager, doctors and health professionals, involving word processing with
general clerical work over two sites.
The practice
is moving towards becoming a paper-light environment, and the main
responsibilities of the post-holder will be to summarise and read code relevant
information from patients clinical records, hospital correspondence and other
sources into the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with
the practice notes summarising and read code protocols.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to
patients and any other visitors to the practice
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and
follow-up appointments.
Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients
with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a
logical and non-disruptive manner.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients
and those seeking temporary cover, and ensure procedures are completed.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring
accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Enter requests for home visits onto the home visit screen, ensuring to
carefully record all relevant details and referring to duty doctor where
necessary.
Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for
collection by the patient or courier within 48 hours, either on the computer or
manually, ensuring all CONTROLLED DRUGS are accounted for, and signed for by patient or courier
Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment
and issue receipts
Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
Open up
premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, and make all necessary
preparations to receive patients.
Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system
promptly and accurately
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as
requested by the partners or the practice manager.
Alert Doctors on duty of any urgent alerts received by fax or post.
Ensure fax machine is emptied on a regular basis throughout the day,
and information is passed on to the correct person(s)
